Clastic: Sedimentary rocks that are formed from pre-existing pebbles, stones, and other fragments.

 

Sediments:Soil, sand, and minerals eroded from land by water and air. Sediments settle to the bottom of surface water.

 

Intrusive: Igneous rocks that form underground

 

Extrusive: Igneous rocks the form on the surface of the earth

 

Uplift: When rock formations from underground are pushed up by plate movement, and are exposed on the surface.

 

Weathering: The decay and break-up of rocks on the earths surface by natural, chemical, and mechanical processes.

 

Luster: The appearence or reflection of light on a mineral or rock.

 

Cleavage: The pattern of the breaking of a mineral along flat planes or surfaces
